Whitby Spring Fishing Festival -
03 April to 18th April 2010.
The local charter skippers hold a spring, summer and autumn Whitby Angling Festival every year.
These are 14 day fishing festivals and are fished from boats registered with The Whitby Charter Skippers Association. This one is in April but don't be fooled by the date!
The prizes consist of both tackle & cash, so definitely worth a punt. £1,000 Cash Prize Heaviest Fish plus £100 daily prizes.
Last years prize money was:
£1000 for the biggest fish over the 14 days.
£50 - £30 - £20 1st, 2nd and 3rd place daily prizes
Whitby Grand Summer Fishing Festival
- 19th June to 11th July 2010
The local charter skippers hold a spring, summer and autumn Whitby Angling Festival every year. The fishing festival lasts for 14 days from boats registered with The Whitby Charter Skippers Association.
In years gone by Cod up to a massive 45lb have been landed during the festival!
In the summer fishing festival there are individual cash prizes for first - second and third heaviest fish in the categories of Cod, Haddock and Ling, best specimen and junior angler.
This years prize table consists of
£5,000 Cash Prize Heaviest Fish - £1000 Second - £500 Third - £250 Fourth
The the daily prizes are £100 plus tackle prizes so there is plenty up for grabs
In last years competition the overall winner took more than £6000 in prizes and cash, not bad for doing what you enjoy doing.
Last years prize money was:
£1500 for the biggest fish over the 14 days, £300 for the second biggest fish, and £200 for the third.
Also £50 - £30 - £20 1st, 2nd and 3rd place daily prizes
This has now got to be the best boat angling festival throughout the country.
Scarborough Seafest

Seafest is an annual festival which takes place at West Pier and around the harbour area of one of the most popular seaside resorts and fishing ports in North Yorkshire. It celebrate the regions connection to fishing and are proud of their Yorkshire Coast maritime heritage.
Whitby Regatta
August 21st - 22nd - 23rd 2010
Three full days of entertainment, taking in yacht racing, rowing races and various free forms of entertainment as published in the official programme, finishing with a prize presentation and spectacular firework display.
Whitby Late Summer Fishing Festival -
11th September to 26th September.
